In this regard, the EU allocated US$ 75 million in this year to meet the needs of people fleeing the conflict in DRC and living in precarious conditions in camps, shelters and other spaces, hence the interest in evaluating on the ground the level of the crisis.
According to Radio Okapi, the EU head for humanitarian aid in Central and West Africa, Giuseppe Angelani, expressed his deep concern about the withdrawal of the United Nations Stabilization Mission from the DRC (MONUSCO), as he fears its consequences for population.
In statements to the press on Saturday, Angelani stated that MONUSCO´s withdrawal could further expose DRC civilians to danger and violence, in addition to reducing humanitarian possibility and support for civilians.
Angelani considered EU aid as a few drops in the ocean of the needs of displaced people, exposed to difficulties in accessing food, water, sanitation and health.
The number of internal refugees in the DRC increases daily, as clashes between the Army and armed groups continue in the east of the country.
