New renewable energy project approved in central Colombia

Bogotá, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) The "Amanecer Photovoltaic Solar Park" project in La Dorada, in Caldas, central Colombia, has today been authorized by the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA).

With a generation capacity of 150 megawatts (MW), it will have a useful life of 25 years, during which it will use a non-conventional generation source, transforming solar energy into electrical energy, which will be carried by the transmission line to the Purnio Substation.

The solar complex includes the installation and operation of approximately 343,602 photovoltaic modules to generate clean electricity, which will reduce 98,156 tons of carbon dioxide and directly benefit 187,500 homes.

Regarding the authorization, the ANLA’s Deputy Director of Environmental Licensing Evaluation, Ana María Llorente, highlighted that “this is the second project we have announced in less than a week, which shows that the licensing of Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Sources projects is a priority for the entity”.

The authority referred to an energy project that takes advantage of sunlight in the department of Santander, in the northeast of Colombia, which was approved in the first week of April.
