According to the Minister of Finance and Prices, Vladimir Regueiro, the current prices do not cover all the costs and expenses related to the production, industrial processing and commercialization of both products.
He added in a press conference held the day before that this measure will contribute to the reduction of the fiscal deficit in our country, and new financial resources may be mobilized from the state budget to support the social expenses of priority sectors.
He also said that it is not a basic consumption for the population and the responsibility of the State and the government are in guaranteeing a level of assortment for food as is the standard family basket that is protected in the current difficult economic conditions.
The new prices, included in Resolution 63 of the Ministry of Finance and Prices, detail that a pack of 20 dark cigars of the Criollo, Titanes and Popular brands will cost 30 CUP, as well as a pack of 20 blond cigars (Aroma).
Meanwhile, black cigars with Popular Auténtico filter will be sold at 60 CUP. In the case of short black cigars without filter, H.Upman Clásico, will cost 50 CUP, and domestic consumption tobacco will cost 10 pesos each,” the minister said.
