The previous national record was 39,7 degrees Celsius and dated back to Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the Veguitas weather station in the same territory, Granma newspaper reported.
Thus, April is ratified as the month of the highest heat records in the island.
Evelio Garcia, chief specialist at the Meteorological Institute’s Forecasting Center, told the newspaper that the marked influence of high pressure, intense solar radiation, low cloud cover, and weak winds favored the establishment of the new national heat record.
