On the usual press briefing held by President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alicia Barcena referred to the country’s claims in the lawsuit filed to the International Court of Justice after the raid by the Ecuadorian police on the diplomatic headquarters on Friday.
Barcena referred that Mexico requests “Ecuador’s suspension as a UN member until that nation issues a public apology recognizing the violations to the fundamental principles and regulations of international law, with the purpose of guaranteeing the reparation of moral damage inflicted to the Mexican State and its nationals.”
The Government further asks the Court to judge and declare that Ecuador responsible for the damage that the violations of its international obligations have caused and continue to cause to Mexico.
Likewise, Mexico requests to judge and declare that in case of a violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter similar to the one committed by Ecuador, this Court is the appropriate judicial body to determine the accountability of a State in order to initiate the expulsion process under Article 6 of the UN Charter.
It establishes the precedent that any State or nation that acts as Ecuador did will be definitively expelled from the United Nations (UN).
It is so crucial to avoid the repetition of those cases that the International Court of Justice will be able to present the expulsion of the State that violates international law quickly and expeditiously to the UN Security Council, preventing the veto of its members, the Government adds.

México pide suspensión de Ecuador de la ONU por asalto a Embajada
Ciudad de México, 11 abr (Prensa Latina) México pidió la suspensión de Ecuador como integrante de la ONU en tanto no se emita una disculpa pública por el asalto a su Embajada, informó hoy el Gobierno al divulgar detalles de una denuncia ante La Haya.
Durante la habitual conferencia de prensa del mandatario Andrés Manuel López Obrador, la secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores, Alicia Bárcena, se refirió a los reclamos del país en la demanda ante la Corte Internacional de Justicia tras la irrupción de la policía ecuatoriana en la sede diplomática ocurrida el viernes último.
Según refirió, el país solicita “la suspensión de Ecuador como integrante de la ONU en tanto no se emita una disculpa pública reconociendo las violaciones a los principios y normas fundamentales del derecho internacional, con la finalidad de garantizar la reparación del daño moral infligido al estado mexicano y sus nacionales”.
Asimismo, pide a la Corte juzgar y declarar que la nación andina es responsable del daño que las violaciones de sus obligaciones internacionales han causado y siguen causando a México.
También solicita juzgar y declarar que en caso de una violación de los principios de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas similar a la cometida por Ecuador, esa Corte resulta el órgano adecuado judicial para determinar la responsabilidad de un estado a fin de iniciar el proceso de expulsión en virtud del artículo 6 de dicha Carta.
Añade, además, establecer el precedente de que cualquier estado o nación que actúe como lo hizo Ecuador será expulsado en definitiva de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU).
Es tan importante evitar la repetición de estos casos, que el Tribunal Internacional de Justicia podrá presentar la expulsión del estado que viole el derecho internacional de manera rápida y expedita ante el Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU evitando el veto de sus miembros, agrega.
