India and Russia take steps to strengthen educative cooperation

New Delhi, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) Delegations from India and Russia reportedly explored in this capital the possibility of deepening relations in several fields of education.

During the meeting, Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy at the Indian Ministry of Education, and Russian Deputy Education Minister Denis Gribov gave an overview of the systems of their respective countries aimed at matching their interests in cooperation, according to an official source.

Kumar highlighted India’s National Education Policy’s (NEP) leading features, which the government launched in July 2020. The Indian functionary referred to changes in the sector, such as introducing a new skill development component from secondary education, following the NEP 2020 recommendations.

Gribov, in turn, addressed the particular emphasis in Russia on student assessment to guide them in their preferred educational path, specific grading systems, and other measures.

The deputy minister showed interest in Russian language teaching in Indian institutions and teacher exchange programs. He also inquired about implementing values education as the NEP 2020 recommended.
