Failed coup against Chavez is part of collective memory

Caracas, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela's Foreign Minister Yvan Gil claimed on Thursday that the failed coup d'état against Commander Hugo Chavez on April 11, 2002, was part of the collective memory of the entire country.

“It is a reminder of when the oligarchy and anti-democratic press proved their fascism and how a united people, with love and conscience, defeated them and saved democracy,” the FM posted on X.

Gil assured that April will always be a moment for national reflection and “strengthening of the revolutionary conscience,” as well as the need to preserve unity, peace and continue fighting for the future we have always dreamed of.

On X, General in Chief and Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino pointed out that “the face of fascism” was already taking off its mask 22 years ago, the empire’s lackeys tried to carry out a coup by trying to deceive people with the most vile media manipulation and censorship. Let´s never forget the faces of those who did so much damage to the Homeland and we say to you, they will not come back!, he stated.

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) recalled in a published material the speech of the Bolivarian leader after his release from the clutches of his captors: “after this memorable, historic, indelible day, if yesterday I loved you, today I love you much more. Love is repaid with love.”
