Costa Rican Parliament commemorates Battle of Rivas

San Jose, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) The Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica is meeting in the central province of Alajuela on Thursday to commemorate the 168th anniversary of the Battle of Rivas, an important historical date for the country.

It is the first time a plenary session is being held in this province. The event will take place in the afternoon, and the people are attending parades and student activities.

The legislators held a session in San Carlos on March 7 as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.

Since last year, the legislators have adopted holding sessions in different regions of the country, coming to Turrialba, Nicoya, and Limón on the occasion of historical dates.

The Battle of Rivas occurred on April 11, 1856. It is the most significant of the first phase of the National Campaign, a matter very important to Costa Rica’s national identity.
