The parliamentary leader recalled on the social network X that five years ago, the current Constitution was approved, 150 years after the proclamation of the first Cuban Constitution.
“The Constitution that we proclaim gives continuity to the first one, as it safeguards the unity of all Cubans, independence and sovereignty of the homeland as fundamental pillars of the nation,” Lazo wrote on his X profile, quoting the leader of the Revolution, Raul Castro.
Justice Minister Oscar Silvera explained in the latest parliamentary session, held in December, that legislative activity during 2023 was developed at acceptable levels with the approval of 18 regulations, including laws and decree laws, out of the 23 scheduled.
The current Constitution of the Republic ratified Cuba’s socialist nature and the leading role of the Communist Party, in addition to expanding individual rights and guarantees, and strengthening the people’s power.
