At the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI), experienced ambassadors Eduardo Delgado, Oscar Oramas and Abelardo Moreno praised Roa’s work, moral virtues and contributions to Cuba, and the creation of an identifiable school of diplomacy based – according to Moreno – on ethics, analysis and revolutionary principles.
Moreno referred to the role played by Roa at the United Nations and in different NAM summits in defense of multilateralism and the right of Cuba to its independence, self-determination and sovereignty.
Oscar Oramas, on the other hand, highlighted Roa´s imprint in Cuba’s close ties with Africa since 1959, and in the promotion of the decolonization process of the African peoples, as well as in training diplomatic cadres to serve the region.
Ambassador Oramas claimed that Roa imbued Cuba’s diplomacy with his combative spirit, vital energy, intellect and revolutionary passion.
Likewise, in the panel of the Commemorative Conference, Eduardo Delgado referred to the perfect harmony between the thoughts of Roa and Fidel Castro and their mutual admiration.
