Tickets for National Ballet of Cuba sold out in Spain

Oviedo, Spain Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) A poster at the box office increased expectations, “sold out,” and the ovations confirmed the success of the premiere of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) in Spain.

At the beginning of a tour that will take the company to several cities in Spain and Portugal, the Campoamor Theater completed its capacity for 1,491 people in the presentation of the complete version of Don Quixote by the Cuban dancers, led by BNC Director Viengsay Valdes.

In the first appearance of Valdés, who assumed the leadership of the National Ballet of Cuba in 2020, after a pristine career by Alicia Alonso, the dancer shined in the role of Kitri, along with Angelo Montero as Barber Basilio, and Gabriela Druyet (Mercedes).

The performance within the Dance Festival that has taken place since March 13 in the capital of the Principality of Asturias, also featured Luis Fernández (bullfighter Espada), Estefanía Hernández (Queen of the Dryads), Roberto González (Sancho Panza), Alianed Moreno (Amor) and Carlos Lino (Camacho).

The cast was completed by first character dancer Ernesto Díaz (Lorenzo), and first dancer Dani Hernández (Don Quixote).

Sadaise Arencibia is Dulcinea, a character in the choreographic version conceived by Marta García and María Elena Llorente, with a libretto by Salvador Fernández and artistic and choreographic direction by Alicia Alonso.

The Oviedo Filarmonía orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Idalgel Marquetti, for the first time in her career in the well-known ballet by Ludwig Minkus, and the dance choir, rounded out the quality of the show, according to the enthusiastic applause of the audience.

Oviedo Mayor Alfredo Canteli, Culture Councilor David Alvarez, and Dance Festival Director Cosme Marina were present at the gala.

A new performance will take place tonight on the same stage, before continuing on the tour that will culminate in Zaragoza on June 2.
