Cuba is on the track to revitalize tourism, expert says

Havana, Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuba has reported a discreet increase in foreign tourists' arrivals in the first quarter of 2024, local researcher and professor José Luís Perelló said.

On his Facebook profile, the expert reflected on the latest statistics on Cuba’s travel industry, indicating a slight recovery and a gradual upward slope.

Perelló noted that according to preliminary statistics, Cuba reported a 7.5-percent rise in tourist arrivals during the first quarter, reaching an estimated 808,678 international visitors.

Canada remains Cuba’s major tourist-sending market, with 398,784 arrivals, accounting for 49.3 percent of travelers.

A staggering 75,382 Cuban overseas residents visited the country in the first quarter of 2024, ranking second in arrivals.

Russia doubled the number of arrivals in the first quarter of 2023, to 66,887 holidaymakers, followed by the United States, with 46,716 visitors, and Germany, with 22,097 travelers.

Other tourist markets, including Mexico, Argentina, China, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Belarus and Peru, show discreet growth.
