Accompanied by Roberto Morales, a member of the Political Bureau and secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Díaz-Canel visited one of the units in the Valle del Perú Genetic Livestock Company.
The institution has reported losses of around 10 million pesos in its 2023 financial balance.
According to the website of the Presidency and Government of Cuba, the head of State met with workers and managers and debated the restructuring process and reduction of the indirect force, which begins to reverse his financial situation.
Later, Díaz-Canel visited the municipality’s Seed Biofactory, which produces potato, banana, stevia and blueberry seeds.
There, Díaz-Canel appreciated the developments in the biofactory that falls under the management scheme of state micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The change has made it possible to achieve more efficiency and increase workers’ income, the publication says.
The Cuban president also visited La Granja Universitaria El Guayabal, which is attached to the Agrarian University of Havana, where a restructuring process is being carried out and will lead to the creation of a State-owned MSME.
Those responsible for the farm proposed strategies to generate more products and resources that turn the place into a reference for the country in the knowledge economy.
As has become customary in these tours, the president of the Republic receives expressions of affection and willingness from a large group of local residents to meet the challenges that the nation is facing, especially in the economic field.
