In its intervention, Colombia set out its interpretation of the regulations of the Genocide Convention that Israel dismisses by its military actions in Gaza.
Additionally, the country reaffirmed its call for other States Party to the 1948 Convention to join that procedure, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry. On April 1st, Colombia announced it would join South Africa in the process filed against Israel.
“The international community cannot remain impassive when a nation uses starvation as a method of warfare. This is a gross violation of international law that cannot be put up with,” he pledged at the time.
In its statement, the Foreign Ministry noted that Palestinians in Gaza, including children, women and the elderly, are also suffering from starvation, to the crying shame and public scorn of the international community.
