From the Comandante Camilo Cienfuegos Electronic Industry Company, CTC General Secretary Ulises Guilarte stated that the rallies will take place in squares, towns and work centers, as a reflection of the Cuban people’s unity, which is the Revolution’s greatest strength.
He pointed out that the occasion will be propitious to demand, once again, the lifting of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States, and the absurd inclusion of the Caribbean island on Washington’s unilateral State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.
We will celebrate this International Workers’ Day immersed in the efforts for the country’s economic recovery, which is today the fundamental task, Guilarte said.
This is done as part of broad popular participation, and in the labor groups that discussed and implemented the Government Projections to correct distortions and re-boost the economy in 2024.
That day, tribute will be paid to the legacy of union leaders like Lázaro Peña, Jesús Menéndez, Aracelio Iglesias, Armando Mestre and Alfredo López, in addition to commemorating 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, José Marti’s 171st birthday and 85 years of the CTC.
Cuban workers will also condemn the aggression of the Israeli Government against the Palestinian people, as a result of which tens of thousands of inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, mostly women and children, have been killed, and will demand that their access to aid be guaranteed.
They will also express solidarity with the international trade union movement and the workers who live in conditions of exploitation and discrimination around the world, as a consequence of the multidimensional crisis of the capitalist system and its neoliberal policies.
