According to the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service, information is being gathered in the area to establish possible consequences.

Local media said that several establishments in Concepción activated their preventive evacuation protocols and in schools students were moved to safe areas.

The Hydrology and Oceanography Service of the Chilean Navy reported that due to the nature of the tremor, there is no danger of a tsunami on the coast.

This is the second earthquake in southern Chile, as another tremor with similar characteristics occurred on the border of the regions of Biobío and Ñuble in the early morning.
