The liquidation was scheduled for April 1st, however, the Ministry of Finance assured in a statement that the pending deposit had been made to 39 thousand officials.
The protests were convened by several associations, including the Secondary Education Teachers (APSE), the National Association of Educators (ANDE), and the Patriotic Education Union.
President of APSE, Vivian Chaves, explained that they will rally along with other union organizations against the failure to pay due to the increase in the cost of living. “It is not true that 100 percent was paid in full,” she said.
The union leader stated that she has reports of non-payment from some teachers, in addition to questions about the amount received.
“It is customary for the salaries of education workers to be paid late. We have colleagues without this year’s surcharges and interim lessons being paid, with non-payment of annuities,” she stressed.
