Buenos Aires, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The National Federation of University Teachers of Argentina is preparing today new days of protests to demand better wages and reject the cuts promoted by the Government in the sector.

According to the union, next Thursday a ‘banderazo’ will take place in key places, and on the 10th they will start a 48-hour strike.

The slogans of the demonstrations will be No to the defunding of public universities, science and technology, and Yes to the unrestricted defense of education in order not to mortgage the sovereignty and the future of the Nation.

In addition, other initiatives are planned to expose the situation of the higher education centers, several of which announced that the budget is only enough to operate until half of this year.

The rectors who gathered at the National Interuniversity Council pointed out in February that the context is critical and warned about the serious effects on the activities of their institutions.

Recently, the Buenos Aires University started a campaign entitled Cuidemos lo que funciona (Let’s take care of what is working) with the aim of collecting signatures to denounce the strong adjustment approved by Javier Milei’s government.

On March 14, a strike of the National Universities Union Front took place for the same reasons.

The professionals also consider the 12% salary increase proposed by the Executive to be insufficient, as they reminded that the inter-annual inflation exceeds 200%.
