Palestinian Media Forum condemns Israeli attacks on journalists

Ramallah, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Media Forum condemned the continuous attacks by the Israeli Army against journalists in the occupied territories, especially in the Gaza Strip.

The entity issued a statement denouncing the bombing of a tent that housed several journalists at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir Al-Balah.

The strike resulted in injuries to journalists Hazem Mazid, Noman Ishteiwi, Muhammad Abu Dahrouj, Ali Hamad, Saeed Jaras, Majdi Qariqa, Nafez Abu Libda and Ibrahim Labad. “This Israeli crime occurs in the context of a series of attacks against journalists,” the statement highlighted, which also recalled the murder of at least 138 workers in the sector since October 7th, the beginning of the current cycle of violence.

The entity called on the international community, especially the international media, to act to stop the Israeli campaign.

The Liberties Committee of the Palestinian Journalists’ Union denounced last month the escalation of Israeli attacks against the sector in the occupied territories.

“We urge UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and the International Federation of Journalists to work to stop the growing crimes, attacks, and violations against the Palestinian press by part of the Israeli occupants,” the Committee stated.

Since the beginning of the aggression against Gaza, Israel has bombed fifty headquarters of institutions in the sector, including the offices of Al Jazeera, Palestine TV, the Maan news agencies, as well as the Al Quds and Al Ayyam newspapers.
