Osvaldo Salgado, Undersecretary of Health Care Networks, said that the device should be used by those who provide medical assistance and those who are waiting to be treated.
Salgado recommended that those with respiratory conditions should also wear masks on public transport.
Last week, the Ministry of Health (MINSAL) decreed a health alert in response to the increase in seasonal illnesses, particularly influenza and the syncytial virus, as well as the presence of other non-traditional microorganisms.
This measure implies increasing epidemiological control of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
It also provides for the hiring of specialized personnel, medical equipment and infrastructure, and coordination in the distribution of pharmaceutical products, as well as the expansion of vaccination campaigns.
