Famous Italian musician to donate his guitar to Cuban museum

Rome, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The famous Italian guitarist Davide Lo Surdo will donate to Cuba's National Museum of Music one of the instruments he will use during his next tour in May on stages in that country, a diplomatic source said today.

The third secretary in charge of Cultural Affairs of the Cuban Embassy in Italy, Alejandro Betancourt, said in statements to Prensa Latina that this is the second guitar donated to museums by Lo Surdo, included in the book Memories of Rock, by author Maurizio Baiata, along with legendary musicians like Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.

He is one of the most renowned guitarists in the world today for his virtuosity, and in a recent issue of Rolling Stone magazine he was considered the fastest guitarist in history.

As part of his tour of different stages of the Caribbean nation, he will perform at the FitCuba 2024 Tourism Fair, to be held in Jardines del Rey, from May 2 to 5, as well as at the Cubadisco 2024 event, in Havana, where he will be from May 11 to 15, with a performance at the Maxim Rock in that city on May 12.

The Italian guitarist’s tour, organized by EBM WORLD Cuba and sponsored by TravelNet, Color Travels, as well as by the Comunque Viaggi agency, joins those carried out in Germany, the United Kingdom, Brazil, India, the United States, Switzerland, Mexico and Bolivia.

Another of his Signature guitars, model DLS1, was permanently donated to the Sigal Music Museum in South Carolina, United States, where instruments once played by celebrities such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Frederick Chopin are also kept, the source said.
