Pyongyang, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) intends to become a world aerospace power, a senior official of the National Aerospace Technology Authority (NATA), said on the occasion of the eleventh anniversary of that institution.

In remarks reported today by the state news agency KCNA, Deputy Director-General Pak Kyong Su said that the agency will continue to pursue plans in this direction, based on the Workers’ Party’s mandate and the state’s strategic interests.

He recalled that over the past decade, the DNTA has ensured the multifunctional character and high efficiency of an artificial Earth satellite and solved various technical problems related to the control and operation of the satellite.

We have made considerable progress in the introduction of technologies for defense, the economy, and improving the livelihood of the population, he said.

He also pointed out that the Malligyong-1 reconnaissance satellite was launched last year, marking a significant step forward in strengthening the national defense system, and that similar satellites will be launched in 2024.

The development of the aerospace industry is of paramount importance for the construction of a socialist power whose progress is guaranteed by cutting-edge science and technology, so it is necessary to develop it to make better use of the cosmos, the official said.
