According to UJC’s First Secretary, Aylín Álvarez, the event will allow us to discuss with passion, but without complacency, the Cuban youth’s responsibility in the present and future of the new generations, the organization itself, the Revolution, and socialism.
In statements to Juventud Rebelde newspaper, Álvarez affirmed that the absolute perception of the complex Cuban context is an important reason to hold this meeting.
The UJC leader pointed out that the meeting will allow sharing of experiences and coordinating actions involving all young people in the country’s development efforts.
Before the national event, the delegates and guests met with the authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the provincial governments to learn more about their territories’ economic and social strategies.
This 12th Congress of the UJC will celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the organization, which was founded by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on April 4, 1962. A year before, the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM, in Spanish) had been constituted on the same date.
