In a post last night in his X account, the President recalled that “together we participated in the founding of the Boston Group”, a Venezuelan-U.S. parliamentary instance in which we accumulated great experiences to unite the peoples of the United States and Venezuela. Maduro sent his “heartfelt condolences to his family and friends in this difficult moment, a strong embrace,” he added.
The relatives of the former U.S. congressman informed the day before in a statement that Delahunt died peacefully, without specifying the causes of death, and celebrated “his extraordinary life and his legacy of dedication, service and inspiration”.
The politician died at the age of 82 at his residence in Quincy, Massachusetts, and for more than a decade served in the House of Representatives, in addition to working as a prosecutor for Massachusetts’ 10th congressional district.
