The police officers knocked on the door and nobody opened or answered, so they broke the door with a blunt tool used in similar actions and proceeded with the search.
Boluarte was not in the house, where only one of his sons was, according to sources from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and approximately one hour later three of the five prosecutors in charge of the search came out.
The operation was surprising, since it was conducted on a religious holiday, although the National Prosecutor, Juan Carlos Villena, publicly communicated that the President had been in default and the prosecutors must urgently apply the pertinent procedures to access the watches.
The drastic measure was executed due to the fact that the president did not receive prosecutors on March 26 and 27, when she was scheduled to be questioned in connection with the investigation opened against her for alleged illicit enrichment for the undeclared possession of at least three expensive Rolex watches.
Questioning the governor and examining the watches were avoided by the governor, who asked to postpone with the argument that she had official activities to fulfill, so prosecutor Villena considered inconsistent and an obstacle for the investigations.
After the watches were revealed to the press, Boluarte declared that she had bought them with the fruits of her hard work and refused further questions alleging that it was a personal issue.
