In a meeting held on Friday, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Iran’s Ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moghadam, agreed on the pressing need to expand relations for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, according to Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

The Pakistani president expressed his commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations with Iran and called for strengthening joint work to overcome common challenges.

After congratulating Zardari on his new post, the Iranian Ambassador praised the historical, religious and cultural ties between his country and Pakistan.

He agreed on the significance ot increasing the bilateral trade volume, banking cooperation, and air and trade ties.

Moghadam suggested that Pakistan could benefit from the Chahbahar-Zahedan railroad for trade with Central Asia, Europe and Turkiye.

Finally, he expressed the hope that Pakistan-Iran relations would receive a new impetus under the leadership of Zardari, to whom he also conveyed warm greetings from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
