On the third and last day of her visit, Mari Machado, who is also the Vice-President of the Council of State of Cuba, and her accompanying delegation are meeting with Hélène Conway-Mouret, president of the French-Caribbean Friendship Group in the Senate.

On Thursday, Mari Machado met with Jean-Louis Bourlanges, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the French National Assembly, in the presence of Cuban Ambassador Otto Vaillant. Earlier, the delegation had been received at the Bourbon Palace, the seat of the Lower House, by the France-Cuba Friendship Group, an entity with a tradition of solidarity with Cuba and rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.

The consequences of that policy, its extraterritorial scope, and the support of Cuba in denouncing Washington’s siege were among the issues under discussion.

The visitors also shared details of the Cuban reality and the legislative plan of the National Assembly, a program derived from the Constitution approved in 2019 and validated by a popular referendum.

André Chassaigne, president of the France-Cuba Friendship Group and a member of the French Communist Party, welcomed his Cuban colleagues, accompanied by parliamentarians from several political forces.

In addition to Mari Machado, the visiting delegation included Estela Cristina Luna, president of the Health and Sports Commission at the Cuban National Assembly, and Miguel Enrique Charbonet, vice-president of the Commission on Education, Culture, Science, Technology, and Communication.
