The Ministry of Social Development announced that the beneficiaries of the “Uruguay Social” and “Plan Equidad” programs, affected by the floods, will see state aid tripled.
According to the administration of the Department of Florida, north of the capital, seven million dollars are needed to repair losses and help those in need.
Aside from these accounts, the ministry will process case-by-case the families displaced by the floods in Durazno, Colonia, Florida, and San José, and will inform the Comprehensive Monitor of Risks and Affects of the National Emergency System.
“Once the registry is closed, the information will be sent to Montevideo and the recharge will be done as quickly as possible,” said the Minister of Social Development, Alejandro Sciarra.
According to the latest report from the National Emergency System, as of Monday afternoon, 5,582 people had been displaced by floods throughout the country, distributed in Canelones, Florida, Durazno and San José.
The national government will meet next week to evaluate the form of assistance to the different affected departments, many of which have seen their roads and electrical networks damaged.
