Senator Sonia Flores, for example, said in her social network X that, “in a desperate attempt to divert attention from his lousy management and the increase of poverty in Argentina, Milei launches insults against our president.
“We will not tolerate any more offenses against our country. As Senator of the Foreign Affairs Committee, I support the Foreign Ministry to take the necessary measures so that this kind of attacks do not happen again, since they violate the principle of mutual respect in international diplomacy”, she said.
Humberto de la Calle, senator-elect of the Green Alliance Coalition Centro Esperanza, said the same.
For the diplomat, “Discrepancies between presidents are inevitable. And perhaps necessary. But the drift towards insults is inadmissible”.
He added, as a Colombian, he cannot accept Milei’s infamous treatment of Petro.
“The president symbolizes our sovereignty. Don’t interfere in this Milei. It is our business,” he said.
Also the Colombian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Roy Barreras, called attention to the seriousness of the facts in social network X.
When someone lowers the debate to personal insult he lowers himself, when the one who insults is Milei who is president, he shames his country, he said.
He added that when a foreigner insults the president of Colombia “he insults our whole nation”.
In an interview conducted two days ago by the U.S. news channel, Milei referred to the Colombian president as a “terrorist murderer”.
In August 2023, in the midst of his aspiration to reach the Casa Rosada, he described Petro as a socialist, which in his opinion was “garbage, it is human excrement”.
