Prosecutor Villena released a statement in which he described as “an act of rebellion” Boluarte’s request to reschedule her statement and the exhibition of the Rolex watches for whose possession the president is under investigation for alleged illicit enrichment.

According to the prosecutor in charge of the case, the trials were scheduled for March 26th and 27th, but he went to Boluarte’s home, and they did not open the door, and a security officer told him that he would be received at the Government Palace, which did not happen.

Villena considers that urgent and immediate measures must be taken to achieve the Prosecutor’s Office’s mission. According to jurist Carlos Caro, measures are the search of Boluarte’s house and the Government Palace to find the watches, since the immunity of the president is only legal and does not prevent legal operations.

The prosecutor’s statement casts doubt on the president’s defense argument for the rescheduling, saying that this week and the next she has activities to attend to, which, he considers, delays the investigations.

Villena points out that the postponement request does not explain whether these activities were scheduled before receiving notification from the Prosecutor’s Office, nor does it substantiate whether Boluarte’s presence at these events is essential.

Moreover, the Comptroller General, Nelson Shack, announced in Parliament that the Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the sworn declarations of income and assets of the president in order to verify if she has an asset imbalance, that is, the difference between her income and her assets and acquisitions.
