Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian commented on some details of the phone call between Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu and US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell.

According to the spokesperson, the two sides exchanged views on the current bilateral relations, besides international and regional issues of common concern.

During the meeting, Lin requested Washington to implement the one-China principle and the three joint press releases effectively.

He also urged the United States to respect China’s core interests, stop politicizing trade and technology issues, refrain from interfering in Hong Kong affairs, and play a constructive role in maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea.

The vice foreign minister also called for implementing the consensus and results of November 2023’s meeting between the two countries’ leaders and promoting stability, health, and sustainable development of bilateral relations.

Lin said Zhaoxu expressed Beijing’s stance and principles on the Korean Peninsula and Ukraine’s crisis.
