The two institutions signed the document in the context of the 13th Atomexpo 2024 International Forum for Research and Development of Nuclear Energy in the Russian city of Sochi.
AECS Director General Ibrahim Othman told reporters that the agreement includes the supply of some radioactive isotopes for medical uses to Syria and others used in non-destructive testing for oil pipelines, fuel tanks, and aircraft.
The memorandum is based on a previously signed cooperation agreement in the peaceful uses of atomic energy and the memorandum of understanding on peaceful non-energy applications, Othman explained.
Rosatom stated that the memorandum includes operations and studies related to nuclear science for peaceful non-energy purposes and nuclear and radiation technologies used in medicine and industry.
Atomexpo is one of the largest international forums in peaceful nuclear energy, held in Russia every two years.
