According to a statement from that Ministry, thanks to the new program called “Colombia Inteligente” (Smart Colombia), 9.4 billion pesos (approximately 2.4 billion dollars at the current exchange rate) will be allocated to support initiatives to solve regional problems and promote stakeholders’ participation to generate inclusive and sustainable solutions.

The statement added that the call will be open until April 29. It will support projects that generate cutting-edge knowledge and apply innovative technologies to address complex problems.

The Ministry in its note added that the proposals also expect to pay the way for future research and developments which promote prosperity and well-being in the territories.

Science Minister Yesenia Olaya said that “Colombia Inteligente” is part of the materialization of the Artificial Intelligence Agenda which will address the challenges outlined in the National Development Plan for closing gaps and the country’s sustainable development”.
