Bangladesh Youth Union reaffirms support for Cuba against US blockade

Dhaka, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) The Central Committee of the Bangladesh Youth Union (BYU) on Wednesday reiterated its solidarity with Cuban people in their confrontation with the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States.

In a press release signed by the secretary general of the organization, Jahangir Alam Nannu, the BYU’s top leadership affirmed that the intensification of the US blockade, together with false accusations against Cuba of being a state sponsor of terrorism, represent an evident assault on the sovereignty and autonomy of the Cuban Revolution.

The youth organization denounced these actions as aggressive maneuvers and interference perpetrated by external powers.

We are well aware of the imperative of global solidarity to safeguard the fundamental rights of nations to forge their own destinies, free from external coercion or interference, it added.

The BYU therefore demanded an end to the economic war against Cuba and its removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

It also called attention on the fact that Washington is complicit in promoting terrorism and global insecurity by using methods such as imperialist diplomatic pressure, trade threats and sanctions, as well as international support for reactionary forces.

According to the BYU, in its experience on imperialism and its tactics, there are parallels between their struggles and that of the Cuban people.

Therefore, the BYU rejected any efforts to distort the reality of nations by trying to discredit revolutionary movements.

Established on August 28, 1976, the Bangladesh Youth Union is a pioneering force of the new generations in that country to defend their rights and interests, according to its website.
