On his X account, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic Yvan Gil, posted that the neighboring nation was “pushed by the pressing need to please the designs of the U.S. State Department.”
Gil asserted that Caracas has always been “respectful of the complex political processes in Colombia,” even in times of violence and great divisions.
The FM considered that issuing false judgments, even when his Colombian counterpart Luis Gilberto Murillo had “first hand truthful information,” is not only an act of bad faith, but seeks to “undermine the process of normalizing diplomatic, political and commercial relations, promoted by our presidents.”
The Colombian Foreign Ministry released on Tuesday a statement in which he informed of “formal and informal” steps taken by its Government for the “unrestricted” compliance of the parties in Venezuela with the provisions of the Barbados Agreements in October, 2023.
The text reaffirmed its “absolute respect” for the sovereignty and autonomy of the Venezuelan people, its political institutions and other social and political actors in the definition of their fate, through the existing internal mechanisms for the resolution of political controversies.
