The plant will produce ecological diesel and will have established a certain mix with fossil diesel for its commercialization, the President explained.
He added that regulation 5135, approved by the national government, seeks not only to expand the possibility of blending anhydrous alcohol (ethanol) with gasoline but also to incorporate the ecological diesel into the imported one.
The new industry will process 1,500 barrels of biodiesel daily with vegetable oils from plants such as macoró, African palm, and soybean, among others.
Government sources noted the amount of this investment at 47 million dollars, which will be added to the Biodiesel Plant 2 being built in El Alto and the HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) ecological diesel plant.
“For this, a regulation was needed and the decree, therefore, aims at two clear objectives, that of giving a greater range of mixture of up to 25 percent based on technical studies and reducing by 100 percent the import of diesel,” the president said.
