Panama boosts tourism with new cruise terminal

Panama City, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Panama’s President Laurentino Cortizo asserted on Tuesday that the modern Amador Cruise Terminal, the first in the Pacific, is a major boost to the tourism sector.

On the opening ceremony, a 82-hectare area that allows simultaneous daily attention to two vessels each with 5,000 passengers, the president detailed that it will operate as a base port for the rotation of travelers, which surges the presence of visitors in Panama; thus, contributing to the economic boom.

That maritime infrastructure project, worth USD$ 206 million, is being equipped with highest tourism and customs standards, integrates modern technologies for its efficient operation and offers travelers a comfortable and safe experience, the leader pointed out.

According Cortizo, such a terminal will further generate new tourist routes on the American Pacific side, attracting more visitors, which will benefit hotels, restaurants, commerce, transportation, artisans and travel agencies, among other sectors.

The port also contributes to boost activities related to the supply of provisions and other multiple services required by the ships that dock at its docks, Cortizo said.
