DPRK is not interested in summit with Japan

Kim-Yo-Jong-1-2
Pyongyang, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Kim Yo Jong, deputy head of the Communication and Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), said on Monday that under the present circumstances her country is not interested in a summit meeting with Japan.

For the second day in a row, she said that the Japanese Government and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida have failed to meet the minimum requirements for a meeting with WPK General Secretary and State Affairs Committee President Kim Jong Un.

She noted that a senior official in Kishida’s cabinet on Monday expressed Tokyo’s unacceptable two-item stance gravitating on bilateral relations: the retention of Japanese civilians in the 1970s and 1980s and the DPRK’s nuclear program.

Kim Jong Un’s respected sister stressed that the former issue has already been settled and the latter is a sovereign right associated with the legitimate defense of the country and has nothing to do with Japan.

Our government again learned about Japan’s attitude and will disregard any contact and negotiation with the Japanese side. The bilateral summit is not a matter that interests us, she stressed.
