At the beginning of the journey, Díaz-Canel confirmed the economic recovery work being done at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Agricultural Company, which has already achieved positive figures after a transformation process and after presenting economic losses in 2023.
The production of 6.9 tons of various crops in the capping houses belonging to a local business attached to the aforementioned company stands out among the results that enhance the achievements of the company, which has conditions to be a national referral, according to the Cuban president.
We need to replace the energy matrix of irrigation machines and use solar panels in order to guarantee more productive efficiency while, with well-directed and consistent work, the company will surely move forward, stated Díaz-Canel, who is also the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
The company’s director, Eriberto González, explained that the farm has 36 houses, including 26 that are mainly planted with tomatoes, chili peppers, cabbage and eggplant, while others are in the planting period in order to expand productions for export, tourism and sales to the population.
Díaz-Canel toured areas of the Matanzas Agricultural Technical Services Company and learned about the center’s transformation process. He was accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, Roberto Morales; PCC First Secretary in Matanzas Susely Morfa, Governor Mario Sabines.
According to Mabel Costa, director of the Enrique Cabré Engine Repair Plant, a UEB inserted within the company, the repair and recovery of metal structures, engines and the repowering of agricultural equipment are at the center of the work of the unit, which has modified structures to solve services.
In a tour of the center’s facilities, Díaz-Canel stated that there is great potential in terms of manufacturing parts and machinery, which are very important for the agricultural industry.
During his stay in Jovellanos, the president was also interested in the potato harvest and the political assurance of the territory for the process of correcting distortions in the economy.
