Magistrate Darwin Danilo Paredes, of the same locality, admitted a protection action with precautionary measures and ordered a provisional end of the consultation in the parish of Palo Quemado, which in recent days suffered violent events due to confrontations between police, soldiers and residents opposed to extractive procedures.
The judicial decision was a response to the appeal presented by the mayor of Sigchos, Oscar Monge, who requested the withdrawal of the National Police and the Armed Forces from the sector to avoid further confrontations.
Next Tuesday, April 2, there will be a hearing to analyze the case.
Palo Quemado is a small community of just over a thousand inhabitants, many of whom disagree with the La Plata mining project, run by the Canadian company Atico Mining.
