The central theme of this year’s edition is “Asia and the world: common challenges, common responsibilities.”
The event, which is known as the Davos of Asia, will begin with panel discussions, roundtables and CEO talks, who will address topics focused on the region, such as investment and financial collaboration.
According to the organizers, two thousand delegates from more than 60 countries and regions, as well as around 1,100 journalists from some 40 nations and regions will attend the gathering, which has been held for 20 years.
Participants will discuss the challenges of Artificial Intelligence and its regulations, the future of new energy vehicles, cooperation within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, the fight against the fragmentation of world trade, geopolitical perspectives global economic outlook, the Global Security Initiative and overcoming political obstacles to addressing the climate crisis.
According to the agenda, the official opening will be on Thursday. The forum will run until Friday in the coastal city of Boao, Hainan province.
Li Baodong, Secretary General of the BFA, emphasized that the current global economic growth is weak, the international situation is chaotic and intertwined, natural disasters and extreme weather are frequent, therefore the need for global governance is becoming more and more urgent.
“However, the world economy is gradually emerging from the haze of the epidemic, and scientific and technological innovation has brought new growth momentum,” he considered, expressing his belief that the Forum can help unite the wisdom of all parties to drive the progress of Asia and the world.
