Argentinian workers condemn Government’s measures

Buenos Aires, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Members of the State Workers Association (ATE) and other Argentine unions gathered up on Tuesday in front of the Institute of Family, Peasant and Indigenous Agriculture to denounce the closure of that agency and the dismissal of thousands of people.

Rioters strongly condemned the decision made by Javier Milei’s Government not to renew 70,000 labor contracts, which expire at the end of March, and demanded wage increases to face high inflation.

They further requested the reinstatement of dismissed workers, the continuity of the Sustainability Guarantee Fund, the rise of pensions and retirement pensions and the cessation of the plan to close and privatize public enterprises.

The Secretary General of the Union of Workers of Autonomous – Argentina Hugo Godoy highlighted the action taken alongside ATE, and warned that the measures of the Executive will lead thousands of families to live in the streets.

“This unity in the action that we take every week will allow us to defeat in the shortest possible time this disastrous experience of Government headed by Milei, and also to unify criteria and convictions in order to be able to reconstitute the State in function of the majorities,” Godoy affirmed.

“For this, it is pivotal that the interests of the working class are the ones that guide the unity of the national and popular movement,” he added.

Meanwhile, the union leader denounced a recent attack on a militant of the Hijos Group, which gathers relatives of the victims of the last civil-military dictatorship in the country (1976-1983) and those who fight for the trial and punishment of those responsible for crimes against humanity.
