We welcome this important gesture that urges countries to strengthen and comply with the ethics system of international collaborative research activities in the field of AI, the Ministry noted in a statement.
He pointed out that Damascus supports reaching an international agreement on AI ethics on the basis of broad participation and working to formulate a framework, standards and norms for international governance.
The statement made it clear that the initiative establishes a set of controls that must be followed regarding AI governance, including the prioritization of ethics and special accountability mechanisms.
“While Syria highly appreciates this important initiative, it thanks the People’s Republic of China for its great enthusiasm and rich contributions to promoting all that is good for humanity,” the Ministry concluded.
Chinese President Xi Jinping launched the Global Initiative for the Governance of Artificial Intelligence, which presents a constructive approach to address universal concerns about the development and governance of AI, while developing plans for relevant international debates and the development of standards.
