Before that meeting, Skerrit paid tribute to the heroes of the Chinese people at Tiananmen Square. The prime minister of Dominica is on an official visit until March 29 and seeks to deepen ties and cooperation to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
According to Xinhua, the Chinese side stressed that bilateral ties “have developed steadily and become a model of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, common development, and cooperation between big and small countries.”
Skerrit traveled to Beijing with a huge ministerial delegation. His agenda includes meetings with Premier Li Qiang and other senior Government and Communist Party officials.
The visitor will also attend the 2024 edition of the Boao Economic Forum -known as Asian Davos- and hold talks with the heads of major Chinese state-owned enterprises.
