The head of State recalled on his X account that the Botanical Garden, one of the greatest environmental projects by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, was inaugurated 40 years ago.
The National Botanical Garden of Cuba is a scientific, educational and recreational institution attached to the University of Havana.
The facility houses the most important botanical herbarium and library in Cuba and generates many scientific research to solve the country’s problems.
According to an article on the Cubadebate’s website, the Botanical Garden covers some 500 hectares, including more than 40 kilometers of roads, where hundreds of thousands of trees of about 3,000 species have been planted and the flora of Cuba and tropical regions of the world is represented, organized in scientifically ordered areas and collections.
