As part of the event, the documentary “Cuba Libre: El desembarco del Granma, una historia sobre el partisano italiano y revolucionario cubano Gino Doné”, dedicated to his memory, will be screened.
In a statement released by the association on this day, points out that “on March 22, 2008 he left us physically, but his example continues to be prolific in international solidarity”, and highlights that during World War II, Doné joined the anti-fascist struggle and fought as a partisan on the coasts of the Upper Adriatic.
“Gino responded with the rebellious dignity of justice, the same feelings that years later led him to join the Cuban rebels who suffered under a dictatorial regime,” the document says and notes that “the Granma expedition made him go down in history, but the humility of our hero of the two worlds did not change.”
“His example is also that of altruism and the spirit of sacrifice since he died without sums of wealth, and his austerity was also transmitted as a good image of those who work for the good of all without individual privileges.”
