The director general of the National Development and Reform Commission, Xu Jianping, leading the Chinese group, stressed the importance of collaboration between the two countries with special attention from the Chinese government in Beijing, quoted by the local state ministry.
Jianping proposed establishing a bilateral working group mechanism to enhance team capacity and facilitate the successful implementation of projects under the BRI.
Regarding this issue, the Ethiopian Minister of State for Finance Semereta Sewasew recalled that the partnership between the two countries was upgraded to a “Strategic All-Weather Partnership”. She also pointed out the importance of exploiting and maximizing their respective comparative advantages to enhance and promote this mutually advantageous collaboration.
Both sides agreed to collaborate closely in advancing initiatives covering road infrastructure, railway development, agriculture, and other growth sectors.
According to the release, they will be deliberated during the upcoming meeting of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum to reach a consensus for formal endorsement and signing.
