“As conscious global citizens, we uphold that every country has the right to self-determination, sovereignty, independence and non-interference in its internal affairs,” the solidarity group said in a statement, while stressing that Cuba has been a firm promoter of regional development despite facing multiple challenges derived from the unjust and genocide blockade.
“Recent attempts to destabilize Cuba are deeply worrying because such actions undermine Cuba´s sovereignty and threaten regional stability and security,” warned the Belizean community.
In this regard, it called for dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law as a viable way to promote mutual understanding.
“We claim our solidarity with the Cuban people and government and we stand up in solidarity with the defense of its sovereignty and against any destabilizing attempt,” the group remarked.
Likewise, it reaffirmed its call to the United States to immediately and unconditionally lift the unjust blockade illegally imposed on Cuba and also called for removing Cuba from the unilateral States Sponsoring of Terrorism (SST) list.
