The World Health Organization points out that an increasing number of children in Gaza are on the brink of death due to acute hunger, and that newborns are dying due to low birth weight, the official denounced on X.

“Meanwhile, thousands of trucks with essential supplies have been blocked in Rafah for months,” she said, referring to the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.

Egyptian authorities have accused Israel on several occasions of hindering the entry of food, medicine, and vital products into the attacked territory.

In recent weeks, Albanese called on the world for an arms embargo against Israel for its attack on Gaza, where more than 31,000 Palestinians have died since October 7th, 2023.

“Helping the tormented Palestinian people means blocking arms exports to Israel”, she wrote on X.

Given this violation, “an urgent halt of all arms transfers (managed by the State or privately) to territories at risk is necessary,” she stressed.
