President Diaz Canel mulls over domestic incidents lately

Havana, Mar 21 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel mulled on Thursday over March 17 incidents in several domestic spots, in which claims of the population were intended to leverage for creating chaos.

The president alongside the Minister of Energy and Mines Vicente de la O Levy explained to journalist Arleen Rodriguez the involvement of the US Government and US-settled terrorist groups in actions against the country’s internal order, taking advantage of the difficult situation Cuba is going through.

The head of State argued on “Desde la Presidencia” new communicative programme that long and annoying power cuts and instability in the distribution of the basic food basket in the first months of 2024 due to the complex economic domestic situation, triggered the claims of people in several territories.

Those places had been a district in Santiago de Cuba and in the town of El Cobre, in that province, and a neighborhood in Bayamo, mainly, where some hundreds of people took to the streets to demand explanations, and complain about those issues.

Diaz Canel said that those people had the immediate response of the local and provincial political and administrative authorities who explained the circumstances that motivate those shortages, caused fundamentally by the tightening of the US blockade in the last four years.

The president affirmed that the inclusion of Cuba in Washington’s unilateral States Sponsoring Terrorism (SST) list has had dire consequences for Cuba’s population.

Diaz Canel pointed out that amid this situation there have been poorly made administrative decisions and elements of bureaucracy, especially in the distribution of the basic food basket, which, has been conducted under very complex conditions.

The leader added that in recent months Cuba has lacked two fundamental fuels to meet electricity generation coverage at peak demand times.

Diaz Canel further assured that among rioters there were those who tried to provoke chaos but were isolated by the population after the authorities’ explanation, although counterrevolutionary platforms on social media tried to magnify what happened, even with artificial intelligence techniques.

That fact demonstrated the perversity of the aggressions on Cuba and ratifies the conviction that everything responds to a platform that seeks a social explosion in the country to put an end to the Revolution, which has its origins in the famous Lester Mallory Memorandum of 1960, he added.

On the programme, the Minister of Energy and Mines referred to the actions taken by the country to defuse the situation created by Washington’s growing hostility.

On the Presidency of the Republic’s YouTube account, Diaz Canel will mull once a week over the most diverse issues of the national reality.
